lets talk about when somebody wants to return a product and you have to issue a void or a refund which one do you use lets explain it when a transaction is run its sitting there in your terminal until you batch out at the end of day so if somebody wants to return something the same day it was purchased you want to avoid it because it hasnt yet gone to your bank which means you havent been charged the fees for that transaction the same day void it out you have a transaction fee when you ran it you have a transaction fee when you refunded it but thats so minimal compared to the fee

Void transactions are different from refunds. With void transactions, no money is ever actually transferred from the customers debit or credit card company to the merchant. But refunds are issued after a transaction has settled and the customer has paid for the good or service.
Void is in regards to the payment on the order invoice - to void the authorization, for instance - so that the funds arent subsequently captured. Payments have to be refunded after capture and cannot be voided. Cancellation, however, is when the order can no longer be modified.
Void Checks in payroll is used to reverse individual pay checks or to void an entire pay run. The void process reverses the original transaction including the employees net pay check and any accounts payable invoices posted for taxes or deductions.
Follow these three main steps to void a physical check. Find a blue or black pen. Write VOID across the front of the check in large letters, making sure to avoid covering the account number and routing number at the bottom of the check. Dispose of the voided check.
