Verses are usually the first thing a listener will hear when listening to a song. The first verse in a song can be prefaced by an intro. In a songs structure, the verse will often be called the A section. One of the most common musical forms that starts with a verse is: VCVC or, verse, chorus, verse, chorus.
The second verse gives us the first chance in the song to shed a new light on the chorus, allowing us to hear it and see it in a different way. Second verses are often broader in perspective, often comfortable with more internal, rather than the strongly externally focused lyrics of verse one.
The first verse sets up the theme of the song, with the last line offering a natural progression to the chorus. The chorus contains the main message of the song. Then another verse reveals new details and is followed by the chorus again.
Basic song structure consists of an intro, verse, pre-chorus, chorus and bridge (many times, this is all tied together in an outro, too).
The most common format in modern popular music is introduction (intro), verse, pre-chorus, chorus, verse, pre-chorus, chorus, bridge, and chorus.
Like mentioned earlier, your verse two doesnt always have to be more, bigger and better than verse one. It could be smaller with less tracks and intensity. This works beautifully too, because its a little surprising and offers breathing room for listeners. It works the other way around too (from small to big).
Between the first and second chorus, Herman (Peter Noone) called out, Second verse, same as. the first. It became an iconic phrase that has led to many never-ending singalongs. The phrase broken record is somewhat similar. Its the idea that something is continuously. repeated, often with annoyance.
