What is R1C1 Reference Style in Excel? R1C1 is the other type of reference style that you can use in Excel. Here, R refers to the Row and C refers to the column, so R1C1 would refer to the cell in the first row and first column. Similarly, R2C3 would refer to the cell in the second row and third column.
The best method is to press Ctrl + F (known as the find function) and then select the tab that says Replace. Type #REF! in the Find field and leave the Replace field empty, then press Replace All. This will remove any #REF Excel errors from formulas and thus fix the problem.
Select the cells with the Excel Style. Right-click the applied style in Home Cell Styles. Select Modify Format to change what you want.
These spaces can make a cell look blank, when in fact they are not blank. Select referenced cells. Find cells that your formula is referencing and select them. Find and replace. Replace spaces with nothing. Replace or Replace all. Turn on the filter. Set the filter. Select any unnamed checkboxes. Select blank cells, and delete.
My column headings are labeled with numbers instead of letters On the Excel menu, click Preferences. Under Authoring, click Calculation . Clear the Use R1C1 reference style check box. The column headings now show A, B, and C, instead of 1, 2, 3, and so on.
If a cell already has a Tag, you can double-click on the cell, or select the cell and click on the Edit Tag button to bring up the Tag Editor on that Tag. If you wish to insert a Tag into a cell that already contains a Tag, then select that cell and click on the Tag Builder button.
To turn off the R1C1 reference style: Click the File tab to access Backstage view. Click Options. The Excel Options dialog box will appear. Click Formulas on the left side of the dialog box. Uncheck the box next to R1C1 reference style, then click OK. Excel will now use the A1 reference style.
Start Microsoft Excel. On the Tools menu, click Options. Click the Formulas tab. Under Working with formulas, click to clear the R1C1 reference style check box (upper-left corner), and then click OK.

More likely is that you opened up a spreadsheet (probably from another person) that was set to R1C1 style. Once it is opened, Excel assumes that you want that as a default, so from then on, all spreadsheets you open (even if they were A1 format) will convert to R1C1.
