iamp;#39;ve actually received a sample from a grower and as you can see there are fruit flies stuck to the surface of this sticky base what i can clearly see without even using a hand lens is that there are male flies here because you can see the spots on the wings so now if i if i look with my hand lens and i look at the first leg of the fly i can just about see two combs of hairs itamp;#39;s quite difficult but you can just about see them now the tricky one is the female because sometimes depends how the female has stuck to the card but here is a fly with no spots on the wings so itamp;#39;s definitely not a male spotted wing drosophila and i can see a very clear brown line at the back of the fly i would check this under a microscope to make sure the overpositor is the spotted wing drosophila one right so now iamp;#39;m looking down the microscope and i can see that that ovipositor on the female is clearly from a spotted wing drosophila and so therefore i confirm can confirm this
