The typical layout shows a via capture pad size of 0.495 mm, a via size of 0.254 mm, and an inner space and trace of 0.102 mm. With this layout, only one trace can be routed between the vias.
Laser vias provide vias with a smaller aspect ratio. They have smaller drill diameter in the range from 0.008 (0.20mm) to 0.001 (0.025mm). They can fit into tight land areas within tight pitch SMT or BGA footprints. Generally, the aspect ratio of laser vias is 0.75:1.
Standard Via Sizes The most common via size is 10 mil, which is 7 mil after plating, but via size typically depends on the thickness of the board and is considered an aspect ratio equation. Micro vias, both laser drilled and mechanically drilled 4 mil holes, are related to the thickness of the boards.
Aspect ratio for vias The ideal aspect ratio for a microvia is 0.75:1 and for a through-hole via, it is 10:1. You can choose more than a 10:1 aspect ratio. But it will increase the design cost, intricacies, and reliability concerns as well.
What size of via should I use? I get this a question a lot), and as a general purpose via I can recommend the following sizes: Large: 0.7 mm pad, 0.3 mm drill. Medium: 0.6 mm pad, 0.25 mm drill. Small: 0.5 mm pad, 0.2 mm.
Hole Size - Click in the text field to edit the hole size (the inner diameter) of the Via. Diameter - Click in the text field to edit the outer diameter of the Via. For Vias set to Top-Middle-Bottom or Full Stack , designers will need to individually enter a diameter for each available layer.
Minimum Via Size: JLCPCB recommends a minimum via size of 0.2mm for via-in-pad technology.
Ctrl-A to select all (vias). Right click to bring up the context menu, Properties, edit size, OK. Note that its probably better to use the net class mechanism to classify tracks and hence vias, to assign sizes, than to edit their sizes directly.
