To remove the shadow from all window screenshots you take, youll need to use Terminal: Go to Applications Utilities and launch Terminal. A shape of an object always determines the shape of its shadow. However, the size and shape of the shadow can change. These changes are caused by the position of the light source. When we are outside on a sunny day, we can see how our shadows change throughout the day.
If youre logged in as the correct user but the desktop looks different and other users have access to your Mac, its possible that another user changed your settings. To protect your Mac from being modified by others, see Set up your Mac to be secure.
The shape of the shadow depends on the shape of the object and on the orientation of the source of light with respect to the object. For example, the shadow of a cube can be rhombus, square, rectangle or no shadow at all depending on the orientation of source of light.
If your display is dark, check the brightness level, check that your Mac and display are turned on and not in sleep, and make sure cables are connected. Check the brightness level: Try adjusting your displays brightness. Check that your Mac is not in sleep: Press the Space bar or any other key to see if the Mac wakes.
Light travels in a straight line thats why shadows are the same shape as the object that makes them. Unless, of course, the object is at an angle. Or the light shines from a different position. Then the shape of a shadow can change too.
The sizes and shapes of shadows depend on the position and size of the light source relative to the position and size of the interrupting object.
As Earth rotates in and out of daylight, an objects shadow changes in length and direction over the course of a day.
