The UNESCO Common Communication Format (CCF) is an exchange format designed for agencies within the information community seeking to exchange bibliographic records. An international symposium in Taormina, Sicily conducted by UNESCO was held in April 1978.
The cross-correlation function (CCF) identifies lags or leads of the two time-series. The CCF is defined as the set of correlations between xt+h and yt for h=0, 1, 2, 3, and so on. A negative value for h is a correlation between the x-variable at a time before t and the y-variable at time t.
CCF facilitates a library and bibliographic agency to use a single set of computer program for the exchange of data. Its simple set of data elements that can be used at any bibliographic level and are free from imposition of catalogue codes.
To provide a flexible exchange format that could be used for converting data from libraries and information services of all types, UNESCO developed the Common Communication Format (CCF).
