If you are working in Excel, unique IDs can be created as follows: In first cell of Import ID column, enter the unique ID, such as JB070509-001. Move pointer to lower right of cell until icon changes to a plus sign like this + Hold down left mouse button and drag down the Import ID column to auto-fill.
Bonus: How to find unique values in Google Sheets To do this, select an empty column in your spreadsheet. Then input the UNIQUE function using the cell range you want to scan for duplicates, leaving behind only unique values. For example, =UNIQUE(A2:B15) .
To filter for unique values, click Data Sort Filter Advanced. To remove duplicate values, click Data Data Tools Remove Duplicates. To highlight unique or duplicate values, use the Conditional Formatting command in the Style group on the Home tab.
Type =UNIQUE( or go to Insert Function (or directly navigate to the Functions icon) Filter UNIQUE. Select a range from which you delete duplicates. Determine the way of filtering (i.e., by row(s) or column(s) and whether you include the items considered duplicates in the original data) if needed.
How to use the UNIQUE function to extract unique values Select the cell where you want to place your unique values. Click on the formula bar. Type the equal sign. Add UNIQUE. Type a set of parentheses. Enter the cell range that you want to extract unique values from inside of the parentheses, such as C2:C11.
To select distinct or unique values without column headers, filter unique values, select the first cell with data, and press Ctrl + Shift + End to extend the selection to the last cell. Tip. In some rare cases, mostly on very large workbooks, the above shortcuts may select both visible and invisible cells.
To insert a new variance function using a sample data set (a smaller sample of a larger population set), start by typing =VAR. S( or =VARA( into the formula bar at the top. If youre working with a population data set (the entire data set), type =VAR. P( or =VARPA( instead.
How to use the UNIQUE function in Google Sheets Type =UNIQUE( or go to Insert Function (or directly navigate to the Functions icon) Filter UNIQUE. Select a range from which you delete duplicates.
