Variation form is just another way of developing a theme or musical idea. At the beginning of the movement or musical section, a theme is presented, usually in its unadulterated form.
A persons skin color, hair color, dimples, freckles, and blood type are all examples of genetic variations that can occur in a human population. Examples of genetic variation in plants include the modified leaves of carnivorous plants and the development of flowers that resemble insects to lure plant pollinators.
In the context of music, a motif is simply a short musical idea, longer than a single note but shorter than an entire section. Although they can vary in length, motifs need to be long enough in order to be recognizable and to carry some kind of significance or thematic value.
Beethovens Symphony No. 5 is actually a rhythmic motifthe four notes follow a short-short-short-long pattern, and this pattern is repeated many times throughout the piece using different notes.
Answer: Examples of types of variation include direct, inverse, joint, and combined variation. What Is Direct Variation? In direct variation, as one variable is multiplied by a constant and increases, another variable (the quotient) also increases.
Variation forms include ground bass, passacaglia, chaconne, and theme-and-variations. Ground bass, passacaglia and chaconne are typically based on brief ostinato motifs providing a repetitive harmonic basis and are also typically continuous evolving structures.
It becomes a motif once it is repeated frequently, as it has established itself as a key theme in the music. Motifs can be modified slightly throughout a song. They may be altered by changing their rhythm, their melody, their order (played backwards for example) or a mix of all three.
The individual members of a species also have differences in characteristics. For example, humans have different coloured eyes, and dogs have different length tails. This means that no two members of a species are identical. The differences between the individuals in a species is called variation.
