what are the melodic motifs in each section of the song how many motifs are there and how do they differ from section to section so Iamp;#39;m going to use Nirvanaamp;#39;s drain you as an example in the verse thereamp;#39;s really just one Motif Dynamic Melody higher to lower notes in the chorus there are two motifs with stagnant Melody with some emphasis on Lower notes and then the bridge is just one Motif stagnant Melody lower notes so the reason you want to take notes specifically of the differences is to understand the contrast that is being made from section to section

A theme and variation is a form of music that begins with a main melody (the theme) that is then altered or changed in some way throughout the piece. These alterations of theme are called variations. Sometimes the music can start with a brief introduction before the theme is stated.
Motifs are similar to a riff, lick or phrase in music that features within the song or composition. These terms all refer to a memorable passage of music within a piece. A lick is usually shorter than a motif (approximately 1-2 bars long), and a phrase is approximately 4 bars long.
Motif :: a group of notes that represent a particular person, place, object etc. Phrase :: a group of measures where the notes are usually structured (arc) to create a question/answer relationship. Melody :: interwoven motifs and phrases to represent a particular concept.
A phrase (likewise, a sentence) is a manner of hearing tonal, melodic and (hyper)metric organization. It is a unit of musical form. A theme is a musical idea, a central argument in a musical thesis, if you will.
In music, a motif is a small collection of notes that captures the essence or idea of the piece. Motifs are similar to a riff, lick or phrase in music that features within the song or composition. These terms all refer to a memorable passage of music within a piece.
W.A. Mozarts ensemble variations tend to be melodic variations. Examples occur in the Sonata in F Major for Violin and Piano and the Clarinet Quintet. Franz Schubert used his song Die Forelle (The Trout) as the basis for melodic variations in his Piano Quintet in A Major (Trout Quintet).
Another term that usually refers to a piece of melody (although it can also refer to a rhythm or a chord progression) is motif. A motif is a short musical ideashorter than a phrasethat occurs often in a piece of music. A short melodic idea may also be called a motif, a motive, a cell, or a figure.
A phrase is a substantial musical thought, which ends with a musical punctuation called a cadence. Phrases are created in music through an interaction of melody, harmony, and rhythm. Terms such as sentence and verse have been adopted into the vocabulary of music from linguistic syntax.
