If youre logged in as the correct user but the desktop looks different and other users have access to your Mac, its possible that another user changed your settings. To protect your Mac from being modified by others, see Set up your Mac to be secure.
Learn how to use a light or dark appearance. To change these settings, choose Apple menu System Settings, then click Appearance in the sidebar.
Try relocating nearby electrical devices, or moving your Mac and display. If you see bright or dark spots on a flat-panel or Mac laptop screen: Your display may have pixel anomalies. If you suspect your Apple display contains a high number of anomalies, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for service.
Your Mac uses graphics drivers to communicate with its hardware components like the graphics card and monitor. If these drivers are out of date, they may not work properly and could result in distorted colors.
To change these settings, choose Apple menu System Settings, then click Displays in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) Arrange the position of the displays, mirror their content, or relocate the position of the menu bar. This option only appears when you have an external display connected to your Mac.
With macOS Ventura, Apple has revamped the System Preferences app and given it a new name: System Settings. (However, you should note that settings for apps are still dubbed Preferences and are found in each apps Preferences menu).
From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen, choose System Preferences. From the System Preferences menu in the menu bar, choose Erase All Content and Settings.
Use a light or dark appearance on your Mac On your Mac, choose Apple menu System Settings, then click Appearance in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) Open Appearance settings for me. Select Light, Dark, or Auto on the right. Light is a light appearance that doesnt change.
