DITA (Darwin Information Typing Architecture) is a standard methodology typically used by technical content experts to create, structure, and distribute content in a way that can be easily reused across multiple publications and platforms.

Darwin information typing architecture (DITA) is an XML-based standard to create, edit, manage, and publish large volumes of documentation in multiple formats and languages. The DITA XML standards core principles make it stand out from the line of other content management solutions.
The DITA Concept document type is used to provide background information that users must understand before they can work with a product or interface, or perform a task. This topic type answers What is questions.
Basic concepts DITA has been designed to satisfy requirements for information typing, semantic markup, modularity, reuse, interchange, and production of different deliverable forms from a single source.
DITA is used by technical writers to make their content more organized and reusable. This is invaluable for writers tackling big projects that span hundreds of documents across multiple iterations.
Using DITA XML, you can create structured content once and then reuse it in multiple formats and contexts. This allows you to break down your content into smaller modules that can be reused in different ways. Modular content is easier to understand, update, and translate than unstructured content.
In DITA, a content model is implemented as an information type, or topic type. A fundamental principle of DITA is information typing, which categorises information ing to the nature of the content. The three base DITA information types are concept, task and reference.
