To go to a specific line in Vim, you can use the : command. For example, to go to line 20 of the current file, enter :20 and press . This will take you directly to the line 20 of the file. Another way to go to a specific line in Vim is to use the :G command.
Enable Line Numbering in Vi Permanently To enable line numbers in Vi or Vim so that they are turned on every time you can set the option in the . vimrc configuration file. Save and close the file. Next time you launch Vi you should see that line numbering is enabled!
