Right-click the trendline. In the pop-up menu choose Format Trendline. In the dialog box that appears, choose the Options tab. Under Trendline name, select Custom and fill in the new name.
On your computer, open a spreadsheet in Google Sheets. Double-click the chart you want to change. At the right, click Customize. Legend. To customize your legend, you can change the position, font, style, and color.
At the Chart editor tab, click on the Customize tab, and then go to the Legend tab. A set of options will appear once you click on it. If you click on the box below the Position, a drop-down box will appear containing the options for the position of the legend.
Select the legend name. In the dialog box, in the field Legend Entries (Series), scroll through to find the name you want to edit. Click the box next to the title to select it, then click the Edit button at the top of the field box, next to Add and Remove. Edit the name.
On the Design tab, in the Data group, click Select Data. In the Select Data Source dialog box, in the Legend Entries (Series) box, select the legend entry that you want to change. Click Edit. Tip: To add a new legend entry, click Add, or to remove a legend entry, click Remove.
Select your chart and on the Chart Design tab, choose Select Data. Choose on the legend name you want to change in the Select Data Source dialog box, and select Edit. Note: You can update Legend Entries and Axis Label names from this view, and multiple Edit options might be available.
In Google Sheets, the order of the chart legend is based on the order of Series added to the chart. To reorder the legend, edit the chart and remove all series. Add the series back in the order that youd like to see them displayed.
To add a legend to your chart in Google Sheets, open the Chart editor by double-clicking the chart, click on Customize, select Legend, choose the desired position from the dropdown menu, optionally format the legend text (e.g., bold or italics) and adjust the font size, and your chart will now have a clear legend.
