Accept-Encoding: br, gzip. That tells the server that it understands data compressed in either Brotli (br) or Gzip (gzip). Servers do have the option of ignoring this and returning uncompressed data as well. Overall though, compressed data travels faster than uncompressed data.
HTTP messages are encoded with ISO-8859-1 (which can be nominally considered as an enhanced ASCII version, containing umlauts, diacritic and other characters of West European languages).
The Accept-Encoding request HTTP header indicates the content encoding (usually a compression algorithm) that the client can understand. The server uses content negotiation to select one of the proposals and informs the client of that choice with the Content-Encoding response header.
The Accept header defines the media types that the client is able to accept from the server. For instance, Accept: application/json, text/html indicates that the client prefers JSON or HTML responses. This information allows the server to send a resource representation that meets the clients needs.
What Does Specify a Vary: Accept-Encoding Header Actually Mean? Accept-encoding header is an HTTP header which must be included on every origin server response. Its main job is to inform the browsers if the client can handle the compressed version of the website.
The HTTP Accept-Charset is a request type header. This header is used to indicate what character set are acceptable for the response from the server. The accept-charset header specifies the character encodings which are accepted by the client and this header also allows a user-agent to specify the charsets it supports.
A Vary Response Header fulfils, ing to its design, the following functions: It gives Cache-Servers of providers the indication that, whilst requesting the Cache, the User-Agent also has to be considered. It helps Web Crawlers quickly identify and index mobile optimized content.
