to insert a standard header or footer you will need to click on the page layout tab in the page layout tab you will click on page setup and here in the dialog box you will click on header and footer you can either select a default header and specify how you want to place it if you want the header to be on the left hand side copy and paste it here for the footer section you can also select a default and you can customize the footer by clicking right here if you want the footer to be displayed on the right hand side you can copy and paste it to the right
