greetings itamp;#39;s the digital dog and in this video tutorial weamp;#39;re going to cover soft proofing in docHub Photoshop letamp;#39;s start with a definition of what soft proofing is and keep in mind what youamp;#39;re going to see applies to docHub Lightroom as well so off proofing is an onscreen simulation of what the image will look like before itamp;#39;s converted to an output color space or even a different color space but before you actually make that conversion so what we can do is we can work in our RGB working space for example weamp;#39;ll be demoing an image thatamp;#39;s in the dhobi RGB 1998 but before I actually convert it to the output color space I can simulate on screen what that image is going to look like in a particular color space before doing so and I can also simulate on screen how the different rendering attempts are going to appear before I actually make that decision so letamp;#39;s talk about soft proofing weamp;#39;re going to use photoshop scu

Both RGB and CMYK are modes for mixing color in graphic design. As a quick reference, the RGB color mode is best for digital work, while CMYK is used for print products.
How to soft proof with Photoshop: Soft proofing in Photoshop is setup through View / Proof Setup / Custom: You can then select the color profile you wish to use for proofing (this is the device to simulate). Rendering intent is often best as relative colorimetric, but some images benefit from perceptual.
Use the CMYK mode when you prepare an image to be printed with process colors, as image conversion from RGB to CMYK creates a color separation. If you start with an RGB image, its best to edit first in RGB and then convert to CMYK at the end of your edit process.
CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black) is the colour space for printed materials, so you should be using the CMYK colour profile for any design that will be physically printed. A printing press creates images by combining CMYK colours to a varying degree using physical ink which is known as subtractive mixing.
JPEG (or JPG) is short for Joint Photographic Experts Group. They work best with photographs both in color and black and white. JPEGs are also the file format that we print most often for our customers.
As a quick reference, the RGB color mode is best for digital work, while CMYK is used for print products.
CMYK color mode is used for printing. The RGB color mode is used to display images that are intended to be viewed on computer monitors and screens only.
So, why do your photos look different in Photoshop? A mismatch in colors is usually due to one of two reasons. Either its a corrupted or incompatible monitor profile or often its incorrect color space settings. For example, a ProPhoto RGB photo mistakenly rendered as sRGB will display as desaturated and flat.
