When youamp;#39;re writing an essay, especially an argumentative essay, or if youamp;#39;re dealing with letamp;#39;s say a public debate, then itamp;#39;s really good to be aware of the three levels or layers of the typical argument. And there are names for these. We call these the claim (thatamp;#39;s the first level), then we have whatamp;#39;s often called the evidence, or the reason (sometimes the proof), and then the third level has kind of a strange name. This is called the Warrant and maybe an easy way to think about this is to refer to this as an assumption, a kind of general implied assumption that is often not publicly stated, but which you can figure out or if you look closely at the statements you can see what the underlying assumption is. So the assumption is what connects these first two things. DITA includes three main topic types: Task, Concept, and Reference. Tasks are used to describe how to perform a procedure. Concepts present descriptive information so the reader can understand the background and context of a subject. Reference topics provide detailed facts, often in a table.
Definitions and Usage A Concept topic provides answers to every important WHAT related to the subject. A Task topic helps to find answers about every HOW to related to the subject of the topic. A Reference topic helps to find answers about WHICH additional information the users need to know about the subject.
DITA Concept. The DITA Concept document type is used to provide background information that users must understand before they can work with a product or interface, or perform a task. This topic type answers What is questions. Concepts often provide an extended definition of a process, function, or product.
Using DITA XML, you can create structured content once and then reuse it in multiple formats and contexts. This allows you to break down your content into smaller modules that can be reused in different ways. Modular content is easier to understand, update, and translate than unstructured content.

Create a reusable topic Navigate to the Repository. Click the contextual menu next to the reuse folder. Choose Create Dita Topic. Populate the fields in the Create New Topic dialog. For example: Click Create. Add content to the topic as required.
The DITA Specification 1.3 provides the following definition of Reference topics: Reference topics are specialized from topic. They contain the standard topic elements, including title, short descriptions or abstract, a prolog, a body, and related links.
DITA is built on XML-based mark-up language. It allows for topic-based authoring. It follows structured authoring concepts. It separates content from formatting via the DITA style guide.
