Each variable has a name, a value, and a type. The value might change over time, and thats why its variable. Many variables store numbers and strings, like the ones above. Variables can also store other types of data, like lists, dictionaries, and Boolean values (true/false).
The first and easiest way of changing the value of a variable is simply to reassign it: let numberOfCats = 3; numberOfCats = 4; Here, we declare the variable numberOfCats and initialize it with the value 3. We then reassign it the value 4 (without the let keyword, as the variable has already been declared).
var variables can be redeclared and redefined, meaning that once values are declared, they can be changed and mutated.
To swap two variables in JavaScript: Create a temporary variable to store the value of the first variable. Set the first element to the value of the second variable. Set the second variable to the value in the temporary variable.
The replace() function will take two arguments: the first is whatever text string you want to search/replace, and the second is the replacement string. In the example above, the replace() function searches for the string world and replaces it with the string Athena within the myString variable.
You can change the value of a variable later in your code if its declared with var or let , but if its declared with const , it cannot be reassigned a new value.
