Hi! My name is Limor Fried, and Im an engineer here at Adafruit Industries. And this is where I do engineering and design, and I design circuits for fashion and music and technology. My name is Federico Gomez Suarez, and Im a software developer with Microsoft Hack for Good. And I look into using technology to help us solve some of the big social problems of our times. You may have heard that computers work on ones and zeros. Or you may have seen scary-looking visuals like this. But almost nobody today actually deals directly with these ones and zeros. But ones and zeroes do play a big role in how computers work on the inside. Inside a computer are electric wires and circuits that carry all the information in a computer. How do you store or represent information using electricity? Well, if you have a single wire with electricity flowing through it, the signal could either be on or off. Thats not a lot of choices, but its a really important start. With one wire, we can represent a ye

The BINARY and BINARY VARYING (VARBINARY) data types are collectively referred to as binary string types and the values of binary string types are referred to as binary strings. A binary string is a sequence of octets or bytes. BYTEA and RAW are synonyms for VARBINARY.
Description. The VARBINARY type is similar to the VARCHAR type, but stores binary byte strings rather than non-binary character strings. M represents the maximum column length in bytes. It contains no character set, and comparison and sorting are based on the numeric value of the bytes.
Main differences between VARBINARY and BLOB are: VARBINARY must have length specification, BLOB must not (but may); Index by BLOB must have prefix length specification, VARBINARY must not (but may); VARBINARY may have default value, BLOB cannot.
To read from a binary file Use the ReadAllBytes method, which returns the contents of a file as a byte array. This example reads from the file C:/Documents and Settings/selfportrait. For large binary files, you can use the Read method of the FileStream object to read from the file only a specified amount at a time.
Binary data is a type of data that is represented or displayed in the binary numeral system. Binary data is the only category of data that can be directly understood and executed by a computer. It is numerically represented by a combination of zeros and ones.
Executable files, compiled programs, SAS and SPSS system files, spreadsheets, compressed files, and graphic (image) files are all examples of binary files.
A binary file is a file whose content is in a binary format consisting of a series of sequential bytes, each of which is eight bits in length. The content must be interpreted by a program or a hardware processor that understands in advance exactly how that content is formatted and how to read the data.
Binary files can be used to store any data; for example, a JPEG image is a binary file designed to be read by a computer system. The data inside a binary file is stored as raw bytes, which is not human readable.
