In this video, Iamp;#39;ll show you how to import subtitles in Premiere Pro CC 2021 and beyond. The version Iamp;#39;m going to be using is version 15. And at the time of recording this video, the captioning interface has changed. Hi, my name is David and if this is your first time watching my videos, and you get value from the content that you watch, kindly consider liking this video and sharing it with your friends. So letamp;#39;s begin by importing our video to our timeline. So letamp;#39;s say these is our video that we want to use. Letamp;#39;s click on open. And once we import our video, we can just add it to the sequence or just create a sequence from that particular clip. And this is what we get. By default if you donamp;#39;t get the captions tab open somewhere right here, then you can just click up here, and itamp;#39;s going to open up. So youamp;#39;re going to get your caption interface on this particular section. So there are a bunch of new things in here are the

Click on Text (or string). By selecting Text, when you save as csv format, a field will save that field with the quotes around that field. Otherwise, excel will save your csv file as a comma-delimited file with no quotes.
Quotes are around each field in case the fields value contains commas or double quotes. Without the double quotes around the field value it would be hard to distinguish when a comma is separating two values or part of the value.
In the context of CSV files, encoding specifies how the characters in the file are stored and interpreted. Common encodings include UTF-8, ISO-8859-1, and ASCII. UTF-8 is widely used and supports a broad range of characters, making it a popular choice for encoding text files.
To deal with these embedded commas, CSV files use quotation marks to identify text that should be grouped together, so commas between quotation marks are not read as field separators. If you need to remove quotation marks from your export, you can do that quickly in Excel, for example, using the Find/Replace function.
CSV files use double-quote marks to delimit field values that have spaces, so a value like Santa Claus gets saved as Santa Claus to preserve the space. If a field value contains double-quotes, then the double-quotes get doubled-up so the parser can tell the difference.
Select the option Custom in the Format Cells window followed by entering @ in the Type field. Click OK and observe its effect on the selected data. This is how you can add quotes to texts using the Format Cells option.
If a value in the CSV file contains a double quote, the whole value must be wrapped in double quotes , and a double quote must be prepended to each double quote in the value. Note: Excel does this automatically when saving as CSV.
