nearly a year ago to the day I created a video covering the process of hiding those annoying shortcut banners that show up anytime you use custom icons on your home screen but with the iOS 16 update Apple changed some stuff behind the scenes essentially making that video now mostly irrelevant so I thought it was well worth taking the time to put together a brand new version of the video to hopefully help anyone whos been having the issue since the iOS 16 update similar to last years video I thought Id also use this video to talk about how you can go about hiding the dock on iOS 16 as well but with that being said lets Dive In so lets start with removing these annoying shortcut banners that pop up anytime you launch any shortcut youve created whether it be when an automation is triggered or perhaps the more common scenario for whenever you open any custom icon you might have on your home screen now Im just going to flag up front that the workaround on iOS 16 is a little jankier t

Remove an item from the Dock: Drag the item out of the Dock until Remove is shown. Only the alias is removed; the actual item remains on your Mac. If you accidentally remove an app icon from the Dock, its easy to put it back (the app is still on your Mac). Open the app to make its icon appear again in the Dock.
Adding icons Find the app or compatible file youd like to add to the Dock and click and hold it. Drag the icon to its desired position on the Dock and release it. If the icon doesnt remain, its a type of file or app thats incompatible with the MacOS Dock.
Place your cursor over the icon in the toolbar, or Dock, that you want to remove. Click your mouse or Trackpad and hold down the button. Lift the icon out of the Dock while clicking and scrolling up or out, depending on where the Dock sits. Release the mouse or Trackpad.
Things You Should Know To add items to the Dock, drag and drop the app from the application folder in Finder to the Dock. To remove icons in the Dock, drag the icon away from the Dock to Remove. If an application isnt adding to or removing from the Dock, make sure its closed in Activity Manager.
On your Mac, select the file or folder. Choose File Get Info in the menu bar. At the top of the Info window, select the small custom icon.
Drag to remove apps from the Dock Removing an app from the Dock is just as easy as adding one to it. Step 1: Select the app you want to remove from the Dock. Step 2: Drag it out of the Dock toward a blank spot on your desktop. Step 3: When you see Remove display above the app, release your finger from it.
Check your application permissions. Select the main Apple menu, go to System Settings Notifications. Scroll through the list, locate the troublesome application, select it, and toggle on Allow Notifications.
On your Mac, use Desktop Dock settings to change the appearance of the Dock, and to choose settings for the desktop, Stage Manager, widgets, windows, and Mission Control. To change these settings, choose Apple menu System Settings, then click Desktop Dock in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
