The command requires the valid user name and password (or API ) in the application to which you want to connect, and it encodes the credentials with base64. In the Authorization Header field, you enter the word Basic (which is the Authorization header type), a space, and then the base64-encoded credentials.
The header is constructed as follows: Concatenate username and password into a string with a colon between as shown: username:password Encode the resulting string in a Base64 variant. Prefix the encoded string with Basic ; the space after Basic is required.
What is Radix 64 Encoding? Radix 64 encoding allows binary data stored in octets (i.e. bytes) to be expressed as printable characters.
Base64 Authentication Policy is used to authenticate clients with username and password only.
Combine the client Id and client secret keys in the format client-id:client-secret and encode the combined string using base64. Encoding to base64 can be done using the URL: . Heres an example client key and secret combination : wU62DjlyDBnq87GlfwplfqvmAbAa:ksdSdoefDDP7wpaElfqvmjDue.
Add Authorization Header The auth header with bearer is added to the request by passing a custom headers object (e.g. { headers: { Authorization: Bearer my- } } ) as the second parameter to the fetch() function.
How to Add and Pass Bearer in Header Get the Bearer . First, you need to obtain a valid bearer to use in the header. Make an HTTP Request with a Bearer . In Apidog, make an HTTP GET or POST request by clicking the + button. Add the Header to the Request. Send the Header Request and Response returned.
To use HTTP authorization header with basic authentication, you need to follow these steps: Encode your username and password with base64. You can use any online tool or library to do this. Add the prefix Basic to the encoded string. Set the value of the HTTP authorization header to the final string.
