Cover/Card stock is often used for mass mailed postcards, business cards, playing cards, invitations, program covers, greeting cards, door hangers, catalog covers, presentation covers, scrapbooking, etc. Bond is a generic name for a variety of lightweight papers intended for typical office use, such as copy paper.
Life Paper can be the perfect writing pad, typing paper, notepad, and letter paper. They come in lined, plain, and grid, from the smallest memo pad, to large legal paper-sized pads. They even offer envelopes, and cotton typewriter paper thats incomparable. This is Tonas personal favorite line of paper.
What is Bond Paper? Originally used to create official government documents, bond paper is a high-quality, durable writing paper, most commonly available in weights upward of 60 g/m. It is ideal for electronic printing on desktop inkjet or laser printers, or larger industrial printers.
Many stocks sold as bond are just basic copy papers. Good papers, but nothing too fancy. However, some bond papers are sold as writing grade and these are a little different. They are a higher class of paper that includes rag fiber such as cotton in its content.
Writing Papers Recycled sheets include high quality post consumer fiber pulp, in addition to the bleached wood pulp or cotton fibers. Cotton sheets are available in either 25% cotton or 100% cotton. Writing papers come in several weights, 20 lb., 24 lb.
The two papers weigh the same because text paper uses sheets measuring 25 inches by 38 inches, while cover paper uses 20 inches by 26 inches. So 80# text paper and 80# cover paper have the same pound rating, but the cover paper is about twice as heavy as text paper. Keep weight in mind when youre ordering your stock.
An 80 lb. cover sheet is quite different from an 80 lb. text sheet. In fact, a sample 80 pound text from our shelves has a GSM of 118 and a caliper of 5.1, while a matching 80 pound cover stock from the same company has a GSM of 216 and a caliper of 9.6.
Text is a generic name for a variety of lighter, thinner paper stocks that includes Book, Bond, Writing, Ledger, Offset paper. Text paper is flexible, can be easily rolled and folded and is used for printing flyers, handouts, letterheads, book pages, etc. The paper used in ink jet printers would be considered Text.
Cover VS Text A cover weight paper is going to be thick, similar in feel to cardstock. Text weight papers are thinner, more similar to catalog and magazine paper. A paper labeled cover is always going to be thicker than a text paper. For example, 100# Gloss Cover is going to be much thicker than 100# Gloss Text.
