The speaker has been involved in BBS for many years, starting from childhood and developing a deep passion for it. About four years ago, the speaker's wife encouraged them to volunteer, leading them to take time off work to become a greeter. This experience was fulfilling, prompting them to dedicate the next three years to volunteering during their vacation. They work at Wilson and negotiated time off to continue this commitment, as they find it rewarding.
