Highlight the columns and select Cols Scroll Lock/Unlock.
To unlock a column: Right-click the column header and select Unlock Column (or click the lock icon under the column header). In the message that appears requesting your confirmation to unlock it, click OK.
Another way to check the lock status of cells is to use the cells properties. Select the cells that you want to check. On the Home tab, in the Editing group, click Format Cells. In the Format Cells dialog box, on the Protection tab, under Locked, select the Locked check box. Click OK.

By default, when you protect cells in a sheet or workbook, all of the cells will be locked. This means they cant be reformatted or deleted, and the content in them cant be edited. By default, the locked cells can be selected, but you can change that in the protection options. 1.
