Text paper is flexible, can be easily rolled and folded and is used for printing flyers, handouts, letterheads, book pages, etc. The paper used in ink jet printers would be considered Text. Cover is a generic name for a variety of heavier and thicker paper stocks that includes Bristol, Index, Tag, and Card paper.
The primary difference between cover stock and page stock is the weight. Weight is equated with thickness. Text paper is easier to fold, while the cover paper is more rigid and must be scored before you can fold it properly.
The difference between 80 lb and 100 lb TEXT Its slightly thicker than the standard copy paper that you find in Staples/your local office supply store. Its used for brochure, flyer printing, thin posters, and the insides of print magazines and booklet printing.
An 80 lb. cover sheet is quite different from an 80 lb. text sheet. In fact, a sample 80 pound text from our shelves has a GSM of 118 and a caliper of 5.1, while a matching 80 pound cover stock from the same company has a GSM of 216 and a caliper of 9.6.
If you refer to text weight means you want an uncoated stock in the lighter weight. Cover Weight Sheets are thicker, sturdier sheets, commonly referred to as card stock. Cover stocks can come in both coated and uncoated options as well.
The two papers weigh the same because text paper uses sheets measuring 25 inches by 38 inches, while cover paper uses 20 inches by 26 inches. So 80# text paper and 80# cover paper have the same pound rating, but the cover paper is about twice as heavy as text paper. Keep weight in mind when youre ordering your stock.
A paper labeled cover is always going to be thicker than a text paper. For example, 100# Gloss Cover is going to be much thicker than 100# Gloss Text. You can also tell the difference in thickness by checking the point or pt thickness. For example, a 100# Gloss Cover is 9pt while a 100# Gloss Text is 5pt.
20 lb. This is the standard weight of most copy paper, and the thinnest/lightest weight we offer. Its perfect for everyday printing and copying on laser and inkjet printers for projects at home, school, or in the office.
