So, let us get started so we have been discussing the the various ideas and concepts, the recovery subsystem of the relational database. So, the principle tool that we use log and log is a sequential file where we keep making entries about the transactions that are under progress and we keep certain important information recorded in the log and we use that log to recover from failures. So, in that context, we looked at what are the various log entries and then we started looking at various specific logging methods and we looked at protocol and undo logging. In this lecture, we will focus on other logging methods, particularly what is called redo logging and also undo redo logging we will see that. So, in undo logging as we have seen in the last lecture, it basically cancels the effect of incomplete transactions. So keeps track of the old values of the items or the date the transaction is in progress have change in the log entries and making use of these old entries to cancel the effect

REDO Information: describes how to apply the update in case the data does not make it to disk. UNDO: Information: describes how to back out the update in case the data gets to disk but shouldnt (because some other update never made it to the disk or the log).
UNDO is used to rollback transactions. REDO records changes to the original data, and is important for transactions that are not committed at the time of a crash or failure. REDO is used to roll forward transactions.
Undo allows you to take back data entry changes by storing a collection of data maintenance actions. Redo lets you restore the change that was undone. Under certain circumstances, for example, when you change to a different client, the collection of actions ends and you can no longer use undo or redo.
In InnoDB, the undo log and the redo log are two indispensable components that play a vital role in maintaining data integrity and ensuring transactional consistency. Both logs are crucial in the ACID (Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, Durability) properties of database systems.
To undo an action press Ctrl+Z on your keyboard, or select Undo on the Quick Access Toolbar. You can press Undo (or Ctrl+Z) repeatedly if you want to undo multiple steps.
Press CTRL+Z repeatedly until the action that you want to undo is undone.
An undo log is a collection of undo log records associated with a single read-write transaction. An undo log record contains information about how to undo the latest change by a transaction to a clustered index record.
