URL decoding is the reverse operation of the URL encoding process. URL decoding is merely converting the encoded URL string into its standard or readable form. It replaces a set of percent (%) and hexadecimal values (that are done for the encoding process) to convert it into a standard or regular representation.
After URL Defense takes action on targeted protection via URL rewriting, you can decode any link in just three steps: Copy the encoded link that starts with . Paste it into our decoding form. Hit Decode to obtain the original link.
To remove a query string from a URL in JavaScript: Create a URL object from the URL string using the URL() constructor. Set the search property of the URL object to an empty string ( ). Get the resulting URL with the toString() method of the URL object.
A URL consists of ten parts: the scheme, subdomain, top-level domain, second-level domain, subdirectory, parameter, port, path, query, and fragment. While a URL doesnt have to contain all of these parts at once, it will always have at least three of them. Below is an illustration of the basic parts of a URL.
URL Defense works behind-the-scenes, which means you do not need to do anything to activate or take advantage of the system. When URL Defense detects a hyperlink in a plain-text e-mail (non-HTML), it will rewrite the URL in plain text. In this case, you will see the rewritten URL directly in the body of the e-mail.
Characters which are reserved tend to have a special meaning. So, we use character encoding to map these characters into special character sequences to reserve the url. The process of replacing %-based escape sequence of characters with their normal representation in an encoded url is called URL Decoding
