The ~ character will work fine if used inside \url{} or \hyperref{} within your text because they automatically disable all the TeX parsing; as described by Martin Scharrer. The same is true for other characters like and for the \path{} command provided by the url package.
The \url command of the url package uses a monospaced font. Load a different than the default or use the \urlstyle command of the same package to choose another style.

To remove a query string from a URL in JavaScript: Create a URL object from the URL string using the URL() constructor. Set the search property of the URL object to an empty string ( ). Get the resulting URL with the toString() method of the URL object.
Basic LaTeX comes with a few . bst style files; others can be downloaded from the web To insert a citation in the text in the specified output style - insert the \cite command e.g. command e.g. \bibliography{references} where your reference details are stored in the file references.
Links to a web address or email can added to a LaTeX file using the \url command to display the actual link or \href to use a hidden link and show a word/sentence instead. There are two commands in the example that generate a link in the final document: \href{}{Something Linky}
You can add a hyperlink into your LaTeX article using the command \usepackage{hyperref} and then including the command \href{YOUR URL}{TEXT FOR YOUR HYPERLINK}.
