Hi, welcome again to .engvid.com. Iamp;#39;m Adam. Todayamp;#39;s lesson is about the paragraph. Itamp;#39;s a writing lesson, and I want to show people what a paragraph is and how to construct one, what to do, what not to do so you can write very clear, very tight paragraphs. This is especially important for IELTS, TOEFL, SAT students but everybody has to follow the exact same rules. Now before I even begin, I must say that Iamp;#39;m talking mostly about academic writing or even business writing. Creative writing like novels or short stories, anything fiction, you can do anything you want. Only always remember: somebody has to read what you wrote so it has to be clear. But academic essays, for example, certain rules you have to follow; you have to be very careful about them. So letamp;#39;s begin. In terms of like the actual way a paragraph looks: you have to indent or skip a line. So let me just make sure you understand what an indent is. This is an indent, the first line a lit

A reverse outline should go paragraph by paragraph. Read one paragraph at a time and write the main idea of each paragraph in the margins of your paper (remember that for your first paragraph, the main point should be your thesis statement!!!) Then list these points, paragraph by paragraph, on another piece of paper.
In a reverse outline, you summarize each main point of your paper in manageable sentences. Once you have these convenient summaries, you can identify points in your paper that deal with too many ideas at once or points that dont explore ideas enough.
Start by considering your intro paragraph and, on a separate piece of paper, write out your thesis statement. This should act as the guide to the rest of the outline: each body paragraph should somehow logically correspond to your thesis. Next, go through each body paragraph and summarize it in one to two sentences. Reverse outlining is simply making an outline AFTER an essay has been written. For every paragraph, write the main idea or main argument in a small number of words in the margin next to that paragraph. This process allows you to see the structure or progress of an essay in a quick and clear way.
Introduce the topic with a transition word, like Similarly or Likewise. Use a contrasting transition word for clashing topics, like However or Yet. Give an overview of the topic youre discussing after the introductory sentence.
Reverse outlining is exactly what it sounds like: a process whereby you take away the supporting writing and are left with a papers main points or main ideas, sometimes represented by the papers topic sentences. Successful revision involves bringing the strongest ideas to the front of the essay, reordering the main points, and cutting irrelevant sections. It also involves making the arguments structure visible by strengthening topic sentences and transitions. Revision takes time.
