When we create a plot in R, the Y-axis labels are automatically generated and if we want to remove those labels, the plot function can help us. For this purpose, we need to set ylab argument of plot function to blank as ylab= and yaxt=n to remove the axis title.
Within theme() , set the following to elementblank() . elementblank() will remove the title of the X and Y axis.
The axes labels and ticks can be removed in ggplot using the theme() method. This method is basically used to modify the non-data components of the made plot. It gives the plot a good graphical customized look. The theme() method is used to work with the labels, ticks, and text of the plot made.
If a plot already has a title, subtitle, caption, etc., and you want to remove it, you can do so by setting the respective argument to NULL . For example, if plot p has a subtitle, then p + labs(subtitle = NULL) will remove the subtitle from the plot.
Use the title() function title() can be also used to add titles to a graph. A simplified format is : title(main = NULL, sub = NULL, xlab = NULL, ylab = NULL, )
Remove x or y axis labels: If you want to modify just one of the axes, you can do so by modifying the components of the theme() , setting the elements you want to remove to elementblank() . You would replace x with y for applying the same update to the y-axis.
