in this session letamp;#39;s learn about undo retention period we know undo retention period is the number of seconds the committed undo data is retained and the parameter for that is undo underscore retention here in our example we are saying 1,800 that means the undo data is stored for at least 1,800 seconds okay this under attention parameter acts a little different in Auto extending undo tablespaces versus fixed size undo tablespaces in a auto extending undo tablespace the Oracle database retains the undo for at least the time specified in the undo retention period and it also periodically used this undo retention period to meet the undo requirements like we learned before Oracle constantly checks the Oracle database to see if there are any long-running Curieamp;#39;s and if the undo retention period does not support that long-running sequel statement it will increase the undo retention period okay in case of a fixed size undo tablespaces the Oracle database will automatically tu

Oracle DB uses UNDO tablespace for keeping track of undo change vectors, which are used to provide features such as transaction rollback, read consistency, flashback query, and more. Each undo change vector is an instruction to reverse data modification.
Undo data is stored in a logical database structure called an undo tablespace. The undo tablespace is of finite size, so records might be overwritten as transactions occur. Oracle saves undo data at least until the transaction has been committed. Until this time, the undo data is in the active state.
Do one of the following: Set UNDORETENTION in the initialization parameter file. Copy. UNDORETENTION = 1800. Change UNDORETENTION at any time using the ALTER SYSTEM statement: Copy. ALTER SYSTEM SET UNDORETENTION = 2400;
Undo Retention Tuning and Alert Thresholds For optimal undo management, rather than tuning based on 100% of the tablespace size, the database tunes the undo retention period based on 85% of the tablespace size, or on the warning alert threshold percentage for space used, whichever is lower.
Yes .. you can do this. create a new undo tablespace undoTbs2 Alter System SET UndoTablespace=undoTbs2. wait until all pending transactions using the old undo tablespace have commited or rolled back. DROP TABLESPACE undoTbs1.
Thus the only solution to accomplish the goal are as follows : Create a new undo tablespace(The following command will create the Bigfile tablespace with the size of 100MB initially) : Set the new tablespace as the undo tablespace to be used: Once the above step is done then drop the old undo tablespace:
Change the Data Retention Policy Expand Report Manager and click Retention Policy in the navigation pane. In the Retenion Policy table, select the retention time for raw data, hourly, daily, weekly and monthly aggregated data types, and saved reports from their respective Store for drop-down lists: Click Apply.
Use the DROP TABLESPACE statement to drop an undo tablespace. The following example drops the undo tablespace undotbs01 : DROP TABLESPACE undotbs01; An undo tablespace can only be dropped if it is not currently used by any instance.
