To change the size of the undo tablespace in Oracle, you can either resize an existing datafile or add a new datafile to the tablespace. -- Resizing datafile. SQL ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE /opt/oracle/oradata/XE/XEPDB1/undotbs01.
What Is Undo? Every Oracle Database must have a method of maintaining information that is used to roll back, or undo, changes to the database. Such information consists of records of the actions of transactions, primarily before they are committed. These records are collectively referred to as undo.
View Undo storage. Use the following queries to view undo tablespaces and rollback segments: SELECT * FROM DBATABLESPACES WHERE CONTENTS = UNDO; SELECT * FROM V$PARAMETER WHERE NAME = undotablespace; Use the following queries to view undo statistics: SELECT * FROM V$ROLLSTAT; SELECT * FROM V$UNDOSTAT;
Its not that easy to tell exactly how much free space a UNDO tablespace has. The sum of EXPIRED extents gives a good approximation of the available reusable UNDO space. DBAUNDOEXTENTS or GV$UNDOSTAT are the proper sources for checking UNDO free space.
In the Storage section of OEM, users can view and analyze tablespace sizes. This makes it simple to see how much space is being used. SQL queries can also be run on data dictionary views. Oracle has several views with info about tablespaces and sizes, like DBATABLESPACES.
Sizing of UNDO Tablespace for Automatic Undo Management in Oracle Database 1.. 2.. 3.. show parameter undoretention. show parameter DBBLOCKSIZE. UNDO SIZE = UNDORETENTION * DBBLOCKSIZE * UNDOBLOCKPERSEC. Note :- This is development instance and as per your requirement you can either add or resize undo tablespace.
Methods to Check Tablespace in Oracle Connect to Oracle. Use SQL*Plus or any other tool that connects to your Oracle database. Identify tablespace. Use this query to view available tablespaces: SELECT tablespacename FROM dbatablespaces; Check status. Verify size. Monitor usage. Check temp tablespace.
Thus the only solution to accomplish the goal are as follows : Create a new undo tablespace(The following command will create the Bigfile tablespace with the size of 100MB initially) : Set the new tablespace as the undo tablespace to be used: Once the above step is done then drop the old undo tablespace:
