Identifying and Removing Metadata Right-click on the file. View its Properties. If there is metadata that you would like to remove, select the Details tab. Click Remove Properties and Personal Information.
Try it! Open the document that you want to inspect for hidden data and personal information. Select File Info. Select Check for Issues Inspect Document. Select the types of content that you want to inspect, and then select Inspect. Review the results.
If you share a document with other people, you can remove personal information, such as author name and company, that Office automatically adds to a document. On the Word menu, click Preferences.
