A dynamic parameter UNDORETENTION specifies the minimum length of time to retain undo data. The default value is 900 seconds. When in AUM mode the database will ignore any manual manual undo management mode SQL statements instead of returning error messages when the parameter UNDOSUPPRESSERRORS is set TRUE.
Use the DROP TABLESPACE statement to drop an undo tablespace. The following example drops the undo tablespace undotbs01 : DROP TABLESPACE undotbs01; An undo tablespace can only be dropped if it is not currently used by any instance.
If an active transaction requires undo space and the undo tablespace does not have available space, then the system starts reusing unexpired undo space. This action can potentially cause some queries to fail with the snapshot too old message.
UNDORETENTION specifies (in seconds) the low threshold value of undo retention. The system retains undo for at least the time specified in this parameter and automatically tunes the undo retention period to satisfy the undo requirements of the queries.
You can change the value of a static initialization parameter by using the SCOPE=SPFILE clause on the ALTER SYSTEM command as follows. SPFILE indicates that the change is made in the server parameter file only. Note: The new setting takes effect when the database instance is shut down and restarted.
Do one of the following: Set UNDORETENTION in the initialization parameter file. Copy. UNDORETENTION = 1800. Change UNDORETENTION at any time using the ALTER SYSTEM statement: Copy. ALTER SYSTEM SET UNDORETENTION = 2400;
In order to change hidden parameter, If you use pfile then in your initSID. ora you can entry of the hidden parameter and start the database. If you want to use for the current session you can use ALTER SESSION SET . To set it permanently if you use spfile then use, ALTER SYSTEM SET SCOPE=SPFILE.
