George is described as small and quick. This is in contrast to Lennie who is big and slow. George is clever but quick to anger. Lennie is not clever and is slow to lose his temper.
Our first impressions of George are that he is fairly normal. He is quite small but still broad and strong. He is small and quick with sharp strong features. We also get the impression that he is smart as well because quick suggests that he is quick thinking as well as fast.
Steinbeck describes George as: small and quick, dark of face, with restless eyes and sharp, strong features (2). In contrast, Lennie is depicted as Georges opposite: a huge man, shapeless of face, with large, pale eyes, [and] wide sloping shoulders (2).
Throughout the novel, George and Lennie have a relationship like an adult and a child. George is responsible for Lennie, making sure he has work, food, and does not get into too much trouble. He gives Lennie commands, which Lennie is supposed to obey, and when Lennie does not, George scolds him.
Explanation: My first impression of Slim in the story Of Mice and Men is that he is a calm, wise, and respected figure on the ranch. This is evident when he is introduced with the description, Slim, with his God-like eyes that seemed to know and understand everything.
Lennies first impression of the new job is that he does not like it. He does not like beingtreated because of the way Curley talks to him. George also wants to go do their own thing and own their own ranch so they can be independent.
A Harvard study suggests that it will take eight subsequent positive encounters to change a persons negative opinion of you. Overcoming a bad impression requires that all your future behavior has to be consistent with how you want to be perceived.
George emphasises his mistrust of Curleys wife by saying that he has never seen another woman as likely to get a man into trouble before. George warns Lennie away from her, suggesting that she is dangerous and untrustworthy.
