In this Microsoft Word sample document, the heading numbering in is not following the right numbering order and the numbers are not resetting properly. To fix this issue, we remove the formatting from all headings in our document, by selecting the headings and then clicking on the Clear All Formatting button. Afterwards, we again select the headings and now in the paragraph section, we open the Multilevel List options. Here we select the list which shows these grey heading titles next to the number. Once this list is selected, you can see that the headings get numbered and by default, the Heading 1 style will be applied to them. To now change the numbering level of a heading, we simply have to click into the heading paragraph and in the style section we choose the Heading-style which is appropriate for the numbering level.
