More than you ever wanted to know about how it works when you double-click the fill handle. With copy of formula down. So a great question this morning from someone. Who thought that the fill handle was broken. They said, amp;quot;Hey, check this out. It seems to be using the formatting down there in rows 11, 12amp;quot;. They actually sent a video where they deleted this to show that itamp;#39;s completely blank, selected the formulas, expected it to get copied down to row 10 and couldnamp;#39;t figure out why it was getting copied down to rows 11 and 12. These cells are blank. Is it using the formatting? No, itamp;#39;s definitely not using the formatting. And hereamp;#39;s how I know that. Iamp;#39;ve been doing this exact same demonstration in my Excel seminars going all the way back. I pulled out a book that I wrote for Excel 2007 and in that book I talk about double click the fill handle and how double click the fill handle will break if the column to the left has a blank

You can select the Error floatie, and choose the Select Obstructing Cells option to immediately go the obstructing cell(s). You can then clear the error by either deleting, or moving the obstructing cells entry. As soon as the obstruction is cleared, the array formula will spill as intended.
To undo an action press Ctrl+Z on your keyboard, or select Undo on the Quick Access Toolbar. You can press Undo (or Ctrl+Z) repeatedly if you want to undo multiple steps.
Formula overlap - Array formulas cant be input if there is anything blocking the output range. and if this happens, Excel will return a #SPILL! error indicating that there is a blockage. If you remove the blockage, the formula will spill as expected.
You can undo these changes from the toolbar or with the shortcut Ctrl+Z or Cmd+Z. Review formula before removal. Before removing a formula, ensure you know what that formula does. That way, you know youre removing the right formula from the data.
To remove a particular spill range, delete a formula in the first cell. To prevent a formula from spilling into multiple cells, use the @ operator which reduces multiple values to a single value. In terms of Excel, this is called implicit intersection.
In a simplest scenario, just click the formula cell and you will see a dashed border indicating the spill range boundaries - any data inside it is an obstacle. So, either remove the existing data from the spill area or move the formula to another location where there is no blockage.
Delete a formula but keep the results Select the cell or range of cells that contains the formula. Click Home Copy (or press Ctrl + C). Click Home arrow below Paste Paste Values.
