What youre seeing are Words field codes that place the page numbers in the paper. By default, Word is set up to show the actual page numbers. If youre seeing the field codes instead, this means that the setting that controls this in Word accidentally got changed.
Click Mailings tab Select Recipients, and then click Cancel Merge. When asked if you want to cancel the merge, click Yes. Note: If you cancel a mail merge, fields other than Address Fields, Greeting Lines, and Address Blocks are converted to regular text.
To undo an action press Ctrl+Z on your keyboard, or select Undo on the Quick Access Toolbar. You can press Undo (or Ctrl+Z) repeatedly if you want to undo multiple steps.
Press Ctrl+Shift+F9. This converts the field to actual text.
To undo an action, press Ctrl + Z. To redo an undone action, press Ctrl + Y.
Removal of field codes Before re-submitting your revised manuscript after acceptance, open your document in Microsoft Word, select Tools - Endnote (or Reference Manager) - Remove Field Codes - save the manuscript under a new name. Then resubmit that version.
They are to let you see fields. You can use Alt+F9 to display everything. Then select everything between the field braces and copy. Then Ctrl+A to delete everything. Then paste. Finally, Alt+F9 to toggle back to display of field results.
Press Alt+F9 to turn off field codes currently on the page. To turn off a field code for a specific field, click on the field and press Shift+F9 instead. Click the Office button and select Word Options to turn off field codes by default.
