7 We have developed the novel Cross Bracing Protocol (CBP) that aims to reduce the gap distance between the ligament remnants by immobilising the knee at 90 of flexion for 4 weeks after acute ACL rupture in attempt to facilitate bridging of tissue and healing between the ruptured ACL remnants.
Without surgery, your ACL will remain torn. The knee might healthe swelling and pain will stop. But a torn anterior cruciate ligament does not reattach or heal itself.
A 4-POINTS-OF-LEVERAGE BRACE WILL DECREASE ACL STRAIN BY AT LEAST 50%. ACL strain values produced by anterior tibial loading. Braces utilizing 4-Points-of-Leverage technology effectively reduce ACL strain which could be particularly important during rehabilitation while the graft is remodeling.
What are the results? Even though almost 700 people have been braced, the first research published on the protocol in June 2023 only looked at the initial 80 participants. It found that at the 12-week mark, 90 per cent of ACLs had healed.
That instability may only be present when youre active, or it can impact you at all times. To avoid this long-term outcome, we recommend arthroscopic surgical repair or reconstruction of your ACL (replacing your damaged ligament with a graft), which boasts an impressive 80-90% success rate.
The study team concluded that After management of acute ACL rupture with a novel bracing protocol, 90% of patients had evidence of ACL healing on a 3-month MRI (continuity of the ACL).
In general, the rate of failure for a patellar tendon autograft (from ones own tissues) is lower than a hamstrings autograft. In addition, failure rates for allograft (from cadaver tissue) are higher than those for using ones own tissue.
An ACL injury is most common among athletes they also have a bigger chance of re-tearing their ACL, especially if they fail to follow rehabilitation guidelines, which begin as early as the day of the ACL surgery.
