LaTeX. In LaTeX, unnumbered sections, subsections, and so forth can be produced by adding an asterisk to the sectioning command, as in this example.
By default, your LaTeX document has a Chapter name (Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc.) for each chapter. If you want to remove such chapter name from your document, then you can use titlesec package and define the titleformat in order to hide the chapter title.
Another option is to try the \let\cleardoublepage\clearpage command before your appendices to avoid the behavior. Or, if you dont care using a two-sided layout, using the option oneside to your documentclass (eg \documentclass[oneside]{book} ) will switch to using a one-sided layout.
The command \chapter is the one used in plain LaTeX to start a new chapter. This macro changes the required counters (the chapter, section, and float counters, among others) and also produces a large heading that usually consists of the chapter number and its title.
Removing a Chapter Heading Open the style editor and right click on Heading 1 paragraph style New. On the Organizer tab give it a name (for example, Preface), select as Body Text as Next Style and dont touch Inherited from (it must remain as Heading 1)
Select Home Show/Hide . This will display non-printing charactersparagraph markers, section breaks, page breaks, etc.that you may want to see while youre working on your document. Double-click the page break so that its selected, and then press Delete.
At the end of a chapter, you will be given an option to either restart the chapter or proceed to the next if available. If the chapter is in progress, you can also restart it by tapping on its cover and selecting the Restart icon (the circular arrow) in the lower right corner of the screen.
