What is the math function to reverse a number in Java? Ans. The reverse() method of the Java Integer class numerically returns the value obtained by reversing the order of the bits in the 2s complement binary representation of the specified integer value.
Method 2 Standard: The idea is to keep putting set bits of the num in reversenum until num becomes zero. After num becomes zero, shift the remaining bits of reversenum. Let num is stored using 8 bits and num be 00000110. After the loop you will get reversenum as 00000011.
class Solution { public: uint32t reverseBits(uint32t n) { uint32t result = 0; for (int i = 0; i 32; i++) { result = 1; // shift n right by 1 bit to get next bit } return result; } };
We can translate this approach to code by taking the following steps: Convert the input integer to a string. Reverse the string. Convert the reversed string back to a number. If the number is within 32-bit range, return 0 , otherwise return the number.
However, C language has given bitwise complement ~ operator for the purpose. Bitwise complement ~ evaluates complement of the operand bit. It evaluate to 1 if corresponding bit of the operand is 0 otherwise evaluate to 0. Therefore to flip all bits of a number say num , you can use ~num .
Divide the original number by 10. Here, in this step the value of the original number gets updated by dividing it by 10. This will remove the last digit of the original number at each iteration and will terminate the loop once the value of the original number equals 0.
Explanation: The test() function takes an integer n as input. It converts n to its binary representation using bin(n). The binary representation is reversed using [::-1] and the prefix 0b is removed by [:-2]. The reversed binary representation is then converted back to an integer using int(reversedbinary, 2).
