hi itamp;#39;s roberto mickey and today weamp;#39;re going to be showing a video about a surgery we performed on a patient with a date palm thorn embedded in the dorsum or back of his hand the patient approximately six weeks prior to his presentation was cutting down a palm frond and the frond hit him in the left hand at the time of his injury he noticed a small puncture wound but did not notice a foreign body subsequently he noted continued swelling on the back or dorsm of his hand so he went and got x-rays which were negative for form body or fracture so when he came to our office on physical examination we could palpate a needle-like foreign body on the back of his hand so we performed an ultrasound in the office and found a dorsal form body measuring approximately 1.5 centimeters in length and he was scheduled for surgery to remove the foreign body so it turns out that these injuries are relatively common in the middle east where date palms are farmed on large plantations the dat
