Adding an odd-numbered appendix would have caused the blank front page. Try clear all temporary files, then recompile your . Tex file.
Remove empty pages Topic is solved Chapters commonly start at right hand pages. So, if needed, empty pages are inserted so chapter start at a right hand side. To avoid this, you can uncomment a line in the main tex file of the template. Look at the \documentclass line, uncomment the oneside option or add oneside .
Another option is to try the \let\cleardoublepage\clearpage command before your appendices to avoid the behavior. Or, if you dont care using a two-sided layout, using the option oneside to your documentclass (eg \documentclass[oneside]{book} ) will switch to using a one-sided layout.
There is no page there, no printing. All books, everywhere, in left-to-right reading countries, start on a RIGHT-hand page, which is an odd-numbered page. You literally *cannot* start on a left-hand-page, because when bound, that first right-hand-page will always exist.
As it turns out, those blank pages have a purpose. The default setting for many books (and many thesis templates) is two-sided, with each chapter opening on a right-hand-side page. To get rid of these empty pages, just add the oneside option (or alternatively, the openany option) to your document class declaration.
Most likely you have \pagestyle{empty} in your document. Remove that line and by default you will get page numbers on every page. You are absolutely right.
