Push out your lips into a kissing shape, creating a circular space between your lips. Form this shape in a way that feels natural. Wet your lips before making puckering your lips, as moisture will produce a louder whistle. This circular shape is where the air will flow through, ultimately making the whistling sound.
Begin with the Lower Octave of the Scale of D Major: Practice it many times until you are comfortable going up and down the scale. Blow gently through the whistle and get comfortable with breathing while you are playing. This is important to master early, as a slow steady blowing determines the quality of the tone.
The squeaking in a tin whistle can be caused by unstable air flow across the blade, inaccurate hole coverage, or inconsistent air pressure. Additional factors include condensation build-up, instrument design, and finger positioning.
Try to slightly move the mouthpiece up and down between your lips until you find the perfect angle for the airflow. You will hear the point where the whistle starts to sound more clear.

Tuneable tin whistles come with a tuning slide that allows you to adjust the pitch of the instrument. Extending the tuning slide flattens or lowers the pitch, while closing it sharpens or raises the pitch.
Tweaking means, simply, to change a whistle to try and improve it. This can be done by modifying the mouthpiece or tube in various ways. A classic simple tweak is to squeeze a Clarke mouthpiece a little more closed, so that it takes less breath. I say simple but Ive always failed at even that small of a tweak.
