in a Single Payer system uh everybody would be in the pool everybody would be covered so you would start out with your if it was the state of Maryland youamp;#39;d start out with your state of Maryland Health Insurance System card the day youamp;#39;re born and you have it your entire life the system would assure a comprehensive system of benefits for medically necessary care and would have one standard of care for everybody and would provide true Health Security in a Single Payer system um most people would be paying less for health care when they count up all of their expenses than they are currently in fact uh Weamp;#39;ve weamp;#39;ve hired an economist to do a study of Single Payer in Maryland and the conclusion was that 95% of people would be paying less current than they currently are paying for healthare in a Single Payer system the the economic barriers to care would be uh there wouldnamp;#39;t be any because you wouldnamp;#39;t have to worry about um co-pays deductibles

The Maryland Model aims to promote: In our hospital payment system, everyone pays the same, sparing Marylanders from cost-shifting and the two-tiered care that burdens patients and worsens outcomes elsewhere. The Maryland Model promotes equitable access and equitable outcomes.
The law instructs Maryland hospitals, the Comptroller, and state agencies to develop a process to identify and reimburse patients* from 2017-2021 that qualified for free hospital care but were wrongfully charged and pursued by debt collectors.
Billing Time Statute You must submit a clean claim to the Maryland Medical Assistance Program within 12 months of the date of service (for acute hospitalsdate of discharge). A clean claim is an original, correctly completed claim that is ready to process. Submit claims immediately after providing services.
The statute of limitations on unpaid medical bills in Maryland is three years from the date that the debt was incurred.
Medicaid, also called Medical Assistance (MA) pays the medical bills of needy and low-income individuals.
All claims must be submitted within the required filing deadline of 365 days from the date of service in the D.C. and 180 Days in Maryland. The following examples of claim filing requirements refer to both paper and electronic submissions.
As long as you have the capability to send EDI claims to Change Healthcare through direct submission or through another clearinghouse/vendor, you may submit claims electronically using Payer ID# RP063.
Claims that are not initially received within one hundred eighty (180) days of the service date may be denied for payment. After MPC has adjudicated a claim, you will receive a Remittance Advice with the reimbursement, which will provide details about the submitted claim and its status.
