If you want to edit a text layer, double-click the layer icon in the Layers panel. You can then change the text, choose a different font, or modify the text size and color.
Renaming Layers Select the layer you want to rename. From the Layers menu, select Layer Properties OR. Select Layer Properties The Layer Properties dialog box appears. In the Name text box, type an appropriate name for the layer. Click OK. The layers new name appears on the Layers palette.
Double click on one of the layer names to retype. Then just press tab (or shift tab for the other direction) and the next layer name is highlighted and ready for retyping. Continue doing the same for the remaining layer names.
Rename Layers By the Double Click Option Double click on the name of the layer in the layers panel to make it editable so you can rename a layer. Rename layers by typing in the name that you want to rename a layer, and press enter.
With the Layers panel: Go to your Layers panel and select the layer youd like to unlock. If its locked, youll see a padlock symbol next to the name of the layer. Click the padlock icon next to the layer to unlock all the layers properties.
Select the layer/group and then follow these steps: Choose Layer Rename Layer or Layer Rename Group. Enter a new name for the layer/group in the Layers panel. Press Enter (Windows) or Return (macOS).
