Limit the Number of Frames The higher the frame rate, the bigger the GIF size is. So, reducing the number of frames can effectively lower your GIF size without losing quality.
1. Preview/Properties Window: To play animated GIF files, you must open the files in the Preview/Properties window. To do this, select the animated GIF file, and then on the View menu, click Preview/Properties. If the GIF does not play, try re-saving the animated GIF in the collection in which you want to put it.
The Animated GIF format has some limitations. GIF format only supports up to 8 bits per pixel for each image, allowing a single image to reference its own palette of up to 256 different colours. This can mean that you will lose colours in areas where there is a gradient or colours that are similar to each other.
Why is my GIF speed slow? A GIFs speed changes depending on the number of frames it has. Too many and it plays slowly. You can remedy this by deleting some frames, ideally at a ratio of one per two frames.
Designing gifs The key to the smoothness is the GIF frame delay time and the fact that the gifs start as videos. Most computer displays run at 60 frames per second, so the best frame rates for smooth animation are 60fps and 30fps.
The GIF file format has a hard-coded limitation of 256 colors, so when you save or convert as GIF, it has an unavoidable loss of quality to the photo. If you want to save it in high quality, we recommend saving an image in video format.
Reduce The Number of Colors The more colors used, the larger the file size will be. Thus, the color reduction technique becomes vital in compressing GIF images. It reduces the weight of the GIF images by reducing the number of colors. GIF images are limited to a maximum of 256 colors (8-bit color palette).
GIF Sharpener This online utility lets you sharpen animated GIF files. You can set the sharpening strength as a percentage in the options and apply the sharpening effect to the selected part of a frame or to the entire frame. As you adjust the strength, youll immediately see the effect in the output preview player.
