The recommended compression method for RGB images is JPEG, in the YCbCr colour space. LZW, Deflate and Packbits are lossless compression methods, unlike JPEG. What is a TIFF file? A TIFF, which stands for Tag Image File Format, is a computer file used to store raster graphics and image information. A favorite among photographers, TIFFs are a handy way to store high-quality images before editing if you want to avoid lossy file formats.
For the best print quality in Photoshop, we recommend using the following TIFF options: set the compression to LZW or ZIP to reduce file size without losing quality, choose the correct color profile (e.g., docHub RGB ), and ensure the resolution is set to 300 DPI, which is ideal for print output. LZW (Lempel-Ziv-Welch) and ZIP (Deflate) compression are two commonly used lossless compression methods for color TIFF images. A lossless compression method compresses the image data while still keeping all the original image data intact with no loss of quality. Reduce TIFF File Size - Peernet Peernet reduce-tiff-file-size Peernet reduce-tiff-file-size
Both LZW and ZIP will give good results. Use either with confidence. But for 16-bit TIFF files, its clear: use ZIP.
ZIP is also a lossless compression, so a TIFF that has been zipped may be okay. LZW would be more software-friendly though, as it retains the TIFF extension and most image editing software can handle them. The zipped TIFF would probably need to be unzipped to be viewed.
